New Decade, new things

Hi there, well I’ve finally decided to update my blog. I had a new iPad and the old blog didn’t work anymore so will give this a go and see what happens. I have done lots of different things the past year so I’ll download a few photographs and see what I can remember.

This was a card for some friends celebrating their Golden wedding. I love Tracey Scott’s stamps and also her cut out ideas. I have done this card and also a page in my art journal. It’s really hard on the hands but worth all the effort.

Back to my sewing and I patched together enough fabric to be able to cut out this travel bag.  It went together really easy and has plenty of pockets and a zipped pocket inside. It’s a nice size and holds all my junk for holidays. I was really pleased with the outcome.

Earlier in the year I attempted to make a purse. It matches a dress and a pair of shoes I recovered. It took my a while to do but it came together eventually. I have some cork fabric to try this project again.
It is okay to use as a mini handbag if it had a strap, fits all my cards, phone, notes, change and a lipstick.
Well I’ll end this little blog here and hope that everything works fine.

Finally have some photos

So we are off to Great Yarmouth soon with Ashley, Sophie and Eva, so have been busy making a few things for Eva.
A jumpsuit for myself and enough fabric left to make one for mini-me! I love this fabric, so easy to make and so comfortable to wear.
This is the hand painted butterfly fabric I purchased from Minerva fabrics. It's so gorgeous and a dream to sew with.

This is the cupcake fabric Eva chose. I had to line the top and the shorts as they were a bit see through, but it made for a nice finish. I also made a gathered skirt from the same fabric that she can mix and match with the top
Great little outfit for holidays.
Wonder why I bother though when I managed to pick this little number up from Asda in their sale a couple of weeks ago for two pounds lol. Be back soon hopefully with some scrapbooking.

Little bits of creativity

Hello there, it's been a while but I have been busy. Several cards birthdays, wedding golden wedding recently, even a diamond wedding, I don't seem to have many pictures of them all.
I have been busy doing some sewing and have treated myself to a brother overlocker, I'm in love I think. I have done a couple of tshirt so for Eva and a pair of pedal pushers, a top for myself and a plain black top for Jamie.
A few weeks ago Eva stayed over and I let her choose her own fabric to make her some dresses
Strawberries and cup cakes. I chose the butterfly fabric it's gorgeous and hand painted and is a work in progress. The strawberry one made up beautifully.
A few weeks ago I decided to alter a really oversized cardigan that my mum knitted for me a few years ago, I really didn't want to throw it out but knew I wouldn't wear it anymore as it was.
It was rather large but now -
Anyone recognise the flower braid, taken from my scrapbooking stash. Lol be back soon to show you the butterfly dress and anything else I get done for my holidays.

Fifties dress

Well it's only taken a year but finally finished this dress that has been on the dummy so long. I don't know if you remember but I bought the pattern from a charity shop in Brixham, sent for the fabric from Minerva fabrics and cut it all out. Had so many problems with the black sections across the bust area. They have been taken off so many times. Then the shoulder bits didn't fit so I waited until I visited my sister so that she could fit it for me. I did bound buttonholes with the black fabric and covered the buttons. Think I'm finally happy with it. Just going to put the pattern and fabric away and and cut out a pair of trousers for myself.

Saturday 2 December 2017

Gosh, so long since I posted

I didn't realise it had been so long, but I have been doing a few things. So Eva and I made these Christmas cards using her painted foot, she enjoyed that bit. We start off great but each time we do some she's adding bits (that's her creative genes lol). She started adding black dots and informed me they were snowflakes done in black because you wouldn't be able to see them if they were white. Next came a few hoof prints and the odd snowball and very ornate antlers. I love them
I have finally finished the school cardy which has taken about four months. It was a bit painful to knit but I have recently had a steroid injection into my hand so things are improving a bit.
I adapted the pattern from the bolero I made earlier in the year. It seems to have worked out okay just hope it fits now.
Gardening has taken a backwards step now and I've finally had to give up my allotment. Such a shame as I loved going up there, even in the winter when the robins always hopped around to see what I was up too. I'm going to concentrate a bit more on the back garden next year hopefully, although I have almost finished a strawberry bottle garden on the side of my shed. Don't know if it will be very productive though.
I have also made a couple of dresses for myself and one for Eva.
This one was for ninety years of the allotment anniversary. I found a 1927 pattern on the Internet and made it up from that. Loved how the skirt came out, but as a result of these photos I am now back at slimming world lol. I made Eva a skirt the same way, so easy, no seams. Just hemmed it on the machine and added a waistband and elastic, simples!
Finally this little cotton dress, tested me a bit with the borders around the neckline but got there eventually. My dream is to make myself a pink coat or jacket next year so watch this space to see if I have the courage!
Well I'll see you all again in a little while, I'll try not to leave it so long next time. Hope you are all having a crafty time x

Fabric

I went through my fabric stash the other week. I found fabric I didn't know I had, they were only small pieces though so I had to make small items for a small person. Below a pair of shorts from a nice bright fabric with printed turtles on it
And the next one is a skirt in a fish fabric and some red bobble trim
There was a small piece of this fabric left over so I created a small bag for her with pockets a some more red bobble trim.

I have made a dress for myself and also a black and white stripe top from another stash find. No pictures of these but I'll post some later.

A bit of sewing and knitting

Well health wise it's been a rubbish three months since the middle of February. It's taken a long while to get back on track but I'm getting there slowly. I'm hoping that the holiday I'm going on next week will do a lot to improve things. Whilst I have been sitting I have been knitting and have finished a cardigan for Eva
It's so pretty with the bit of glitter in the yarn. Next project in the knitting line are school cardies in red. Where did those four and a half years go?
